The current building located on Bye-pass road was built in 1970 and houses two appliances, a retained pump and one reserve pump. The station is a retained Fire Station and firefighters are not on site 24 hours a day. Old Free Grammar School: Popularly known as the Old Boys School is a comfortable, recently refurbished meeting hall for up to 60 people. The hall is currently used by the Parish Council and many village and other organisations. There is free car parking adjacent. Hiring charge £9 per hour. Village Hall: The Village Hall, known locally as the Community Centre (Registered Charity No: 700264) is available for hire. It is built on land initially owned by the Coulston family, purchased by the Bolton Le Sands Welcome Home Committee (to give servicemen returning from the second world war recreational facilities) and subsequently transferred to Bolton Le Sands Parish Council (BLSPC) by a deed of covenant dated 16 March 1948 held by them. During 1975 a Community Centre Committee raised funds to build the Centre from the local community and grants were received from The Department of Education and Science, Lancaster City Council, Lancashire Education Authority, the former Lancaster RDC and the Parish Council. The Centre was opened in April 1976, it being managed by a local committee who drew up a set of management procedures. The surrounding land and the car park, are owned and maintained by the Parish Council. Hire Charges: (1 April 2019) Meeting Room 1: £9/hour Main Hall (includes kitchen facilities): - £12/hour from 6pm Sunday - Thursday (off peak) - £13/hour from Friday 9am - 6pm Sunday (peak) Day Hire: 9am - 4pm - £110 Monday - Thursday (off peak) Day Hire: 9am - 4pm - £130 Friday - Sunday (peak) Evening Hire: 6pm - Midnight - £120 Monday - Thursday (off peak) Evening Hire: 6pm - Midnight - £150 Friday - Sunday (peak) Main Hall Day and Evening Booking subject to a £50 deposit. There is a £5 admin charge for one off bookings. If alcohol is to be brought on site and sold, a Temporary Events Licence must be obtained from Lancaster City Council. The deposit will be refunded provided that hall is left in the condition that it was found (clean & tidy) in line with the conditions of hire the hirer is responsible. The village hall holds a PRS for Music licence, however if regular users wish to play recorded music they must hold a PPL Public Performance Licence. This does not apply to one off events e.g. weddings, funerals, parties etc as these are classed as private events. Defibrillators: There are 3 defibrillators located in the village and 3 others nearby. A defibrillator is a machine used as a common treatment for life-threatening heart conditions. Defibrillation consists of delivering a therapeutic dose of electrical energy to the heart. All the Defibrillators are available for public access when you notify the Ambulance Service by calling 999 in the event of a medical emergency. The operator will inform you of the nearest accessible Defibrillator and support you through the emergence whilst you are waiting for an Ambulance. Annual Bonfire & Fireworks Display: Founded in 1971 following an accident at a private fireworks party in the village, the display is run annually for a nominal entrance fee in early November by professionally trained members of the committee, who are all unpaid volunteers. Community Playground Project A local award winning playground designer with support from Lancashire County Council has been commissioned to guide the redevelopment of the playground to create a fun place for the children and families of the village. Tennis Club A small, friendly club with approximately 30 members with 1 ladies, 1 men’s and 2 mixed teams. Courts are reserved for club competitions: Summer: each Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6.30pm until dusk and Sundays 2pm - 5pm. Winter competitions (September until end March) each Tuesday from 1pm until dusk. At other times the courts are for public use. Club meetings are on Monday evenings from 6.30pm until dusk and Saturday afternoons from 1.30pm until dusk. Junior coaching is on Saturdays from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. The club has the use of a pavilion with our own room with changing rooms, toilets and a kitchen. Fees are £25 a year for full members and £10 for students. Membership is free for juniors.
